Catholic Coloring Page: Abraham and Isaac

God asked Abraham and Isaac to offer a sacrifice on a holy mountain. Abraham knew that God asked him to sacrifice his only son, Isaac. Abraham obeyed, even though it was VERY difficult for him. God was really testing Abraham’s faith. When God saw how faithful Abraham was, He ordered an angel to stop Abraham. God then sent a ram to Abraham and isaac as a sacrifice instead.

Abraham and Isaac became the fathers of many generations and nations. They both had tremendous faith in, and obedience to, God.

Abraham and Isaac foreshadow God the Father and Jesus. God sent His only son, jesus, to be sacrificed, too. But this time, Jesus was killed. Jesus is the perfect sacrifice, and the fulfillment of the faith of Abraham.

“Isaac said to his father: My father. And he answered: What wilt thou, son? Behold, saith he, fire and wood: where is the victim for the holocaust? And Abraham said: God will provide himself a victim for an holocaust, my son. So they went on together.”Exodus 2:10
