Catholic Coloring Page: The Eucharist

The Eucharist is the Body and Blood of Jesus that has been transformed from bread and wine. At Mass, the priest consecrates the bread and wine using the words that Jesus spoke at the Last Supper:

"Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is my body, which will be given up for you."

"Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me."

Jesus changes the bread and wine into His own Body and Blood. This is called transubstantiation. It happens at every Mass. When we receive communion, we receive the Eucharist, which is the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus.

“And taking bread, he gave thanks, and brake; and gave to them, saying: This is my body, which is given for you. Do this for a commemoration of me.”Luke 22:19
“And taking the chalice, he gave thanks, and gave to them, saying: Drink ye all of this. For this is my blood of the new testament, which shall be shed for many unto remission of sins.”Matthew 26:27-28
